They are made up of the implant, which is a titanium peg or screws fitted into the jawbone, and a prosthetic tooth that is fixed on top of this.
If you need a replacement for a missing tooth or a tooth that is going to be extracted, we’ll always go over all the options available to you in a consultation. While single-tooth dental implants aren’t suitable for every patient, we do find that those they are suited for, love them. These implants are extremely durable and comfortable in the mouth and easily present the most aesthetically pleasing and natural-looking option.
The application of a single-tooth dental implant usually takes place over two appointments and several months. After an initial consultation where we’ll establish whether this is the right path for you, you’ll come into the practice to first have the implant fitted. This will be done under local anaesthetic so you don’t feel a thing.
Once the implant is placed, we’ll stitch the incision to help it heal and then there’ll be a wait of a few months while the area is left to fully heal and the implant and jawbone are left to fuse. During your second appointment, we’ll apply the permanent prosthetic tooth as well as a healing cap to help the gum to heal.
